Fiber-Optic Loop

The City of Santa Maria has installed a fiber-optic network to deliver high-speed internet to all City departments, enabling staff to provide essential services quickly, and providing residents to access Wi-Fi at several facilities and parks. The network has improved public safety response, traffic control, and communication across departments. It has also improved public access to the internet, giving residents without reliable and affordable internet services opportunities they did not have before.

Santa Maria is the first city on the Central Coast to become a “gigabit city” by investing in its municipal fiber-optic infrastructure.
