LED Lights

We have successfully transformed our city’s nighttime visibility by retrofitting thousands of streetlights with LED "True Lights" fixtures. All 7,013 city-owned streetlights now provide a clearer, brighter view, improving safety and visibility critical for motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians after dark. Next time you’re out, you can clearly see this change at the Santa Maria Town Center East (mall) parking structure. (Remember how orange-y they were on the second floor during the transition?)

These next-generation lights were a top priority not only because they help reduce light pollution, but also improve safety. To ensure they are always shining bright, our City's Street Maintenance staff perform routine light inspections, services, and necessary upgrades throughout our community.
