We love our city and our residents. To meet our growing population’s needs and to create more opportunities to prosper, we came up with the Smart City, Safe City initiative. This evolving plan ensures that we put the best interests of our community first, because it is the families and businesses that keep the heart of Santa Maria beating strong.

How We Achieve This

Our commitment is continually building and sustaining a better Santa Maria. Our 10 City departments and all our employees are here to serve you. Some of our Smart City, Safe City programs we have provided for many years, while others are new. Together with our partners, and the buy-in of residents, businesses, and visitors, we are making this vision a reality.

Our approach is divided into six categories: government; public safety; community; recreation; education, arts, and culture; and environment. Under these strategic categories, we created a multi-year roadmap with key programs within each to guide us to becoming a smart and safe city.
