Electric Buses

Experience a cleaner and more comfortable ride with Santa Maria Regional Transit (SMRT) as we transition to a new fleet of state-of-the-art electric buses. With six electric buses already in service and 10 more on the way, Santa Maria's will be able to enjoy quieter and greener public transportation.

That is not the only thing that makes this new fleet smart. Planning trips and paying bus fares has never been easier with the SMRT Pay App, and our new electric buses offer additional amenities, such as WiFi access and smartphone charging ports. As part of our commitment to sustainability, the City aims to have a fully electric transit fleet by 2024, surpassing California's requirements. These new buses—funded through State and Federal grants—are projected to save the City more than $300,000 in annual operating costs.
